The years of Hunger, Hardship and Popular Revolt (1830s)

The years of 1830s were so called because of the following reasons:
There was an enormous increase in population which led to food shortages.
There was widespread unemployment.
Cities were overcrowded due to large scale migration of people from villages to towns in search of jobs.
Local trade suffered due to flooding of cheap machine made goods from England.
Peasants were struggling under the burden of feudal dues and obligations.
A year of bad harvest added to their problems.
All these culminated into a series of revolts all over the Europe which saw overthrowing of Monarchies.
